Alphabet blocks aren't just for stacking they can also be used for showing off favorite pictures and artwork.
You could also use plain wood blocks and paint and embellish they as you like.
Materials:
Alphabet blocks/hammer/pushpins/glue/craft wire/pliers
Instructions:
First decide which blocks will serve as wire holders. In the top center of each, hammer a pushpin about 1/8 inch deep, then remove pushpin.
Arrange the blocks face up in a straight line or in any pattern that creates a stable resting surface on the bottom. Glue them together, then prop books or heavy objects at each end to hole them in place while the glue dries about 3 hours.
Cut lengths of craft wire(approx 6 to 8 inches) and curl one end of each piece into a spiral. Add a dab of glue to the straight end and insert it into hole. Let the glue dry before putting the project to use.
Note-- This craft is geared towards a child project, but i could see you adapting this to an adult project, or a holiday craft.
