I am so going to try these, except with a different flavor. I am not real crazy about cherries, but strawberry or blackberry would be goodYou need
1 package cream cheese softened
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 packages crescent dough
3/4 of 21 ounce can cherry pie filling
1 egg lightly beaten with 1 tablespoon water
1/4 cup sliced almonds
How to
In a bowl stir in cheese, sugar, flour, lemon zest, lemon juice and vanilla with a wooden spoon until well blended and smooth
Heat oven to 375 Unroll one package of the crescent roll dough and separate into 4 rectangles. On a lightly floured work surface, cut each rectangle in half crosswise, making 2 squares Pinch together any perforations or holes in dough, then stretch two opposite corners of each square slightly to lengthen the dough and form the flaps that will enclose the filling Transfer to ungreased baking sheet
Spoon 1 tablespoon cheese mixture diagonally onto center of each square, top with about 1 tablespoon pie filling. See picture for folding.
Brush with egg and water mixture and sprinkle almonds on top. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until golden brown Makes 16 danishes (2 cans of dough)
